The Last Anniversary - Liane Moriarty

This is an engaging tale of a family living on Scribbly Gum Island. One of the family members dies and leaves her house to an obscure aquaintance, creating an uproar amongst the rest of the family. This is a story of legacies and lies, abandoned babies, motherhood, desperate spinsters, tired marriages and temptations. It has a particularly effective and heartbreaking portrayal of post-natal depression that makes you want to reach out to the mothers of crying babies in supermarkets. Quite unrealistic story, but charming, and sometimes frightening character portrayals.
